| Add a plank to Bridge the Gap!
|
The challenge is on, and local business leaders and individuals are working hard to ‘Bridge the Gap!’ The ‘Bridge the Gap’ campaign came about as we began to see an increase in new program participants this year – over 10% in the first half. State budget cuts in services to individuals with developmental disabilities have prompted these individuals and their families to seek alternatives. The Arc of Tempe Life-Skills & Recreation Program is a wonderful alternative – giving adults with developmental disabilities and their families some time apart and offering new experiences and new friends. It’s a win-win situation! We’re proud to be able to do our part to meet this increased need and bridge the gap left by budget cuts. But we can’t do it alone. An increased roster of participants means increased expenses and a strain on an already lean budget. Enter an ‘Arc Angel,’ a generous individual who contributed $5,000 to help shrink this shortfall, and ‘Bridge the Gap’ was born. Yucca Taproom owner, Rodney Hu, grew the fund to $8,000 and challenged the Torosian Foundation, which added another plank to the bridge. The Bridge the Gap fund is now over one-third of the way to its goal of $25,000. Meanwhile, our bridge builders are challenging more local businesses and individuals to ‘add a plank’ for $100. Who will be the next to add a plank to build the bridge that welcomes all new program participants to The Arc of Tempe? Add a plank using the donate button below, or mail your contribution to: The Arc of Tempe, Bridge the Gap, PO Box 26014, Tempe, AZ 85285-6014.
